Beetle since once upon a time MG TCs and TDs were popular kit cars and of course those kits were Beetle based.

Correct! I found the rear was slightly odd looking but didn’t think anything about it. But when I noticed the Beetle front suspension, and the Beetle-ish taillights, I knew it wasn’t an MG.

One of those fiberglass Beetle based replicas. I think there were at least a half dozen companies that made them in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

I looked at buying one one time, but, as luck would have it, the owner had actually totaled by the time I called. Can’t imagine these hold up well in a crash. I ended up buying a normal Super Beetle instead, which, was at least all steel, enclosed, and had a back seat.

Beetle-based! The 500 had something similar, but it looked quite different (the Vignale Gamine)

Honestly, they’re not so bad as expected. Though maybe me being Dutch, and having absolutely no fear on a bicycle does help.

I honestly don’t know. I didn’t have time to stop. All I know is that the place was packed with Ferraris and at least another 3 passed me heading in the direction of this thing , whatever it was.
